When you’re on the road all day, every day, it’s important that you have the right tunes to keep you going. You can make or break a journey with the right or wrong song. Whether it eases the boredom of a long drive or gets you grooving, music is essential to road trips. 

The first mass-produced commercial car radio was introduced in 1930 by the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation, today known as Motorola. Since then we’ve been listening to music on the road through the radio, by CD, MP3 player and even cassette tapes (remember those?!). 

Music and driving go hand in hand. That’s why cars pop up in music videos so much – and that’s not forgetting songs like ‘Mustang Sally’ and ‘On the Road Again’. Although, we’ve been wondering why more vans don’t appear in music videos?!
