Swedish manufacturer picks up safety award
One of the commercial vehicle industry's biggest manufacturers has picked up a major safety award.
Volvo's accident research team was handed the European Safety Award for Commercial Vehicles recently at the 6th International DEKRA Symposium in Germany.
In particular, former head of the research team, Lennart Svenson, was honoured for his commitment to greater safety for commercial vehicle drivers.
Mr Svenson said at the award ceremony: "The accident research team has investigated thousands of accidents
[over] the years and represents a great base of knowledge.
"In the future, greater emphasis will be given to the field of active safety in order to continually improve the level of vehicle and road safety."
While it is a well-known fact that safer vehicles offer drivers better protection on the road, it is also a fact that they can help a motorist attract cheap van insurance.
It was announced earlier this week that the commercial vehicle industry was making excellent progress in its bid to cut CO2 emissions.
