Coloured judgement can impact used van values
Purchasing a second-hand commercial vehicle because of its appealing colour can be a fatal mistake, according to one expert.
Although a gaudy shade of green may seem like a good idea at the time, a loud or garish colour may seriously reduce a van's resale value.
Recommended shades include black, slivers and blues, which are consistently popular within the second-hand market.
Alan Senior, HPI's used vehicle valuations expert, said: "In our experience, the colour can have a huge impact on pulling buyers in, so we'd advise buyers to think carefully before making a statement.
"Colour
can be a very important factor in deciding how much value it will retain."
When purchasing a used commercial vehicle it also vital that you check its history, as buying a previously written-off or damaged vehicle can make it impossible to attract cheap van insurance.
More than half of motorists are looking to downsize their existing vehicle, according to research published this week.
