Charity welcomes drink driving proposals

A renowned road safety organisation has welcomed proposals aimed at tackling the UK's drink driving community.

The charity Brake has made the pledge in response to the government recently announcing a consultation which could see major changes in road safety policy.

According to Brake, a reduction in the drink driving limit could significantly improve the wellbeing of British commercial drivers.

Chief executive of the organisation, Mary Williams, commented: "Brake is pushing for a lower drink drive limit in order to eliminate any ambiguity over the dangers of drinking and driving.

"Britain has one of the highest drink drive limits in Europe and it must be reduced."

While drink driving offences can drastically raise the price of a commercial vehicle insurance policy, it is the untold effects it can have on families and communities which is ultimately the most devastating.

In other news, the RAC Foundation recently urged commercial drivers to brush up on the Highway Code.
